Phollicles™
Advanced Follicular Stimulating Serum for Hair Density & Regrowth

One SerumMultiple pathways..
Hair loss is multi-factorial. Phollicles™ targets five distinct biological pathways simultaneously from DHT suppression to follicle stem cell reactivation so no mechanism of thinning is left unaddressed.
Understanding alopecia
Knowing your type of hair loss is the first step to choosing the right treatment. Here's what the science says — and where Phollicles™ fits in.
What is alopecia?
Alopecia is the medical term for hair loss. It encompasses a broad spectrum of conditions affecting the scalp and body hair, ranging from gradual, patterned thinning driven by genetic and hormonal factors, to sudden patchy loss caused by autoimmune activity.
In sub-Saharan Africa and among individuals with higher Fitzpatrick skin types (III–VI), hair loss often carries unique cultural, psychological, and physiological considerations.
Hair loss affects not just appearance, it has a well-documented impact on self-esteem, identity, and quality of life. Early intervention matters.
Also known as: Male/Female Pattern Hair Loss (MPHL/FPHL)
The most common form of hair loss, affecting up to 80% of men and 50% of women at some point. Driven by genetic sensitivity to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which causes progressive follicular miniaturisation; a gradual shrinking of the hair follicle until it stops producing visible hair.
- Males: Hamilton-Norwood Scale (Grades I–VII) — recession at temples and crown
- Females: Ludwig Scale (Grades I–III) — diffuse thinning over the central scalp
- Onset can begin as early as the late teens or early twenties
Also known as: Male/Female Pattern Hair Loss (MPHL/FPHL)
Hair loss caused by chronic tension on the hair from tight styling — braids, weaves, ponytails. Common where protective styling is frequent. Early stages are reversible.
Diffuse, temporary shedding triggered by stress, illness, childbirth, or nutritional deficiency, where many follicles enter the resting phase at once.
An autoimmune condition causing patchy hair loss as the immune system attacks follicles. Phollicles™ can support the scalp environment but is not a primary treatment.
Permanent hair loss where follicles are destroyed and replaced by scar tissue. Requires specialist medical management; topical regrowth serums are not indicated.
- Males: Hamilton-Norwood Scale (Grades I–VII) — recession at temples and crown
- Females: Ludwig Scale (Grades I–III) — diffuse thinning over the central scalp
- Onset can begin as early as the late teens or early twenties
Grading scales & clinical patterns
Standardised grading tools help clinicians and patients track progression and treatment response. Understanding your pattern guides how and where you apply Phollicles™.
Male Pattern Baldness
Seven-grade scale (I–VII) describing progressive frontotemporal recession and vertex thinning. Grades I–III represent early-stage AGA where Phollicles™ delivers the strongest outcomes.
Phollicles™ indicated: Hamilton-Norwood Grades I–IV.
Female Pattern Hair Loss
Three-grade scale describing diffuse thinning over the central scalp, with preservation of the frontal hairline. Grade I: mild thinning. Grade II: moderate widening of the central part. Grade III: severe diffuse thinning with scalp show-through.
Phollicles™ indicated: Ludwig Grades I–II (adjunctive).
Female Vertex Thinning
An expanded female pattern scale that also accounts for overall density loss and frontal thinning. Useful for tracking diffuse TE recovery as well as FPHL, offering more granular assessments for darker phototypes.
Phollicles™ indicated for diffuse density loss at all Savin stages.
Facial & Body Hair Loss
Covers beard, eyebrow and body hair thinning. The roll-on applicator makes Phollicles™ well suited to precise application along the beard line and brows.
Phollicles™ indicated for beard & brow density.
Diffuse Shedding Patterns
A five-point scale capturing overall hair density and shedding intensity, ideal for tracking telogen effluvium and early diffuse thinning over time.
Phollicles™ indicated for active shedding & diffuse thinning.
Marginal & Frontal Acquired Loss
Traction-driven recession along the frontal and temporal margins, common with tight protective styling. Early intervention preserves the follicle before scarring sets in.
Phollicles™ indicated in early, non-scarred stages.
